The Hani Language actually has writings

Although there was never a true Hani language script, in 1957 the Chinese government created a set of pinyin characters for the Hani language using the Latin alphabet as the standard, which has been implemented in the Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture on an experimental basis to the present day. Although this set of pinyin characters is not really a script, its invention has played a vital role in the preservation and study of Hani culture.
